Pricing
How much does kitchen cabinet spraying cost? +
Kitchen cabinet spraying with Finishworks starts from £1,750. The final price depends on three things: the number of doors and drawers, the surface type (solid wood, laminate or vinyl wrap), and the level of preparation and repair required.

We give fixed, itemised quotes from photos - no vague ranges, no surprises on the day. Send us a few pictures and we'll come back within 24 hours with an accurate price.

As a rough guide: a small kitchen (8-12 doors) typically falls between £1,750 and £2,400. A medium kitchen (12-20 doors) between £2,400 and £3,600. Larger kitchens from £3,600 upwards.
Is the quote really fixed? What if something changes on the day? +
Yes, fixed means fixed. We visit before work starts to confirm the scope in person, and the price you agreed is the price you pay - even if the job takes slightly longer than planned. The only exception is if you ask us to do something materially different from what was quoted (for example, adding extra doors or changing the finish specification).
How much could I save compared to a new kitchen? +
The average kitchen replacement in London costs between £10,000 and £25,000, including units, worktops, fitting and any building work. A Finishworks respray achieves the same visual transformation - new colour, new feel, new look - starting from £1,750. Your carcasses, worktops, layout and appliances all stay in place. Most clients save between £6,000 and £15,000 compared to replacement.
Do you charge extra for two-tone kitchens? +
Yes - two-tone kitchens (different colours on upper and lower cabinets) involve two separate spray sessions and careful masking between colours. We'll quote this accurately once we understand the scope. The additional cost is usually modest relative to the overall job.
Process & timing
How long does kitchen cabinet spraying take? +
In-home spraying: 3-4 working days. Doors are removed, labelled and sprayed on-site in a fully masked and extracted zone. Exposed carcass edges are sprayed in place. Your kitchen remains partially usable between sessions.

Workshop finishing: 4-5 working days. Doors are removed and taken to our spray facility - no on-site spraying at all. Your kitchen stays fully functional while we work, and doors are returned, re-hung and adjusted once complete.

Both methods use the same professional lacquer system and produce the same result.
Do I need to be at home while you work? +
For in-home spraying, we ask that someone is home at the start of the first day and at handover. During the work itself, you don't need to be present - we're experienced at working respectfully in occupied homes. For workshop finishing, you only need to be home when we collect and return the doors.
Can I use my kitchen while you're working? +
During in-home spraying, the kitchen will be partially disrupted but still accessible in the evenings and between spray sessions. We remove doors in batches where possible to minimise inconvenience. The sink and appliances remain accessible throughout. For workshop finishing, your kitchen stays fully functional - we just don't have the doors on.
Do you need to visit before you can quote? +
No. We quote from photos. Send us clear photos of your doors, drawers, any damage or areas of concern - we'll come back within 24 hours with an accurate, fixed quote. A site visit before work starts is included in the price and is how we confirm all details before committing a start date.
How do I get a quote? +
Three ways: fill in the quote form on this site, send photos directly via WhatsApp, or email us at info@finishworks.co.uk. We respond to all enquiries within 24 hours, usually the same day.
Quality & materials
Will the finish chip or peel? +
A professionally sprayed finish, done correctly, will not chip or peel under normal use. We use specialist cabinet coating systems - professionally formulated for kitchen environments, not general-purpose paint. The finish is harder and more durable than brush-applied paint, and chemically cures to a tough, washable surface.

Every Finishworks kitchen comes with a 3-year workmanship guarantee covering workmanship defects. If anything fails under normal use within that period, we'll return and fix it at no charge.
What's the difference between spraying and brush-painting kitchen cabinets? +
The difference is in the finish and the materials. Professional spraying applies paint in a fine, even mist - the result is perfectly smooth with no brush marks, roller texture or lap lines. It's the same process used to finish kitchens in a factory.

We also use specialist cabinet lacquers, not standard wall paint or brush-on products. These are formulated specifically for high-use surfaces - harder, more resistant to grease, steam and cleaning chemicals, and significantly longer-lasting than anything you can apply with a brush.
What preparation do you do before spraying? +
Preparation is 80% of the job. Every kitchen we take on goes through the same rigorous sequence: degreasing (kitchen surfaces accumulate cooking residue that prevents adhesion), sanding to create a key for the primer, correct primer for the substrate type, and a final inspection before any colour coat goes on.

Skipping or rushing any of these steps is how finishes fail. It's also the part most clients never see - but it's exactly what separates a lasting result from one that needs redoing in 18 months.
Is the paint smell strong? Is it safe? +
For in-home spraying, there will be some odour during application - we use professional dust extraction and ventilation throughout to manage this. The smell typically clears within a few hours of each session. We use water-based and low-VOC lacquers wherever appropriate.

For clients who are sensitive to paint fumes, or have very young children or pets, workshop finishing is the better option - there's no spraying in your home at all.
Colours & finishes
Can you spray any colour? +
Yes. We can mix and spray any colour from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Dulux Trade, RAL or any other standard colour reference system. We can also match from a sample (a tile, fabric swatch, or even a photo) if you're working to a specific palette. There is no minimum - even a single bespoke colour is fine.
What sheens are available? +
We offer satin and eggshell finishes, which are the most appropriate for kitchen cabinets - they're easy to clean and don't show every fingerprint the way gloss can. Full gloss is available on request. We don't recommend flat/matte on cabinet doors as it's very difficult to clean without marking.

Our most popular finish for kitchens is satin - it has a slight sheen that reads as clean and modern without being high-gloss.
Can I see colour samples before committing? +
Yes. We can provide sample boards sprayed in your chosen colour before the main job. This is especially useful for bespoke or unusual colours, or for two-tone combinations where you want to see how the colours interact in your space. Ask about this when requesting your quote.
What are the most popular colours you spray? +
Currently our most requested colours are Farrow & Ball Railings (a near-black with blue undertones), Farrow & Ball Mizzle (a sage green), Little Greene Charcoal, RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, and various off-whites. Two-tone combinations - particularly dark upper and lighter lower - are increasingly popular in 2025.

See our gallery for examples of specific colours in real kitchens.
Cabinet types
Can you spray laminate or vinyl wrap kitchens? +
Yes. Laminate and vinyl wrap surfaces require specific preparation and bonding primers before spraying - a step many sprayers skip, which is why some resprays on these surfaces fail. We use the correct adhesion primer for each substrate, which ensures the finish bonds properly and lasts.

Laminate jobs typically go to our workshop for the best possible result, as the controlled environment gives a more consistent finish on these surfaces.
Can you spray shaker-style doors? +
Yes - shaker doors are our most common job. The recessed panel and raised frame are sprayed consistently to avoid heavier build-up at the joins. The result should look exactly like a factory-finished shaker door.
What about kitchen carcasses - do those get sprayed too? +
Exposed carcass edges - the visible chipboard or MDF edges you see when a door is open - are included in every kitchen job. We mask and spray these in place using the same colour as the doors, so the kitchen reads consistently when opened. Internal carcass walls are not sprayed unless specifically requested.
Can you respray in Howdens, IKEA or B&Q kitchens? +
Yes - we work on kitchens from all manufacturers. The brand matters less than the surface material. We'll assess the door construction and surface type from photos and advise on the best approach.
Areas & logistics
What areas of London do you cover? +
We operate across SW London (Wandsworth, Wimbledon, Richmond, Kingston, Putney, Clapham, Teddington, Battersea), W London (Fulham, Hammersmith, Chiswick, Kensington, Chelsea, Notting Hill, Ealing), NW London (Hampstead, Barnet, Harrow, Brent, Hendon, Finchley), and the Home Counties - particularly Surrey and Middlesex (Guildford, Esher, Cobham, Weybridge, Epsom, Staines, Uxbridge, Ruislip).

Not sure if we cover you? Just ask - we'll confirm promptly.
Do you do flats and apartments? +
Yes. We work in flats and apartments regularly. For in-home spraying in a flat, we'll check ventilation options before the job starts. Workshop finishing is often a good solution for apartments where ventilation is limited.
Can you do rental properties? +
Yes - we work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. A respray is an efficient way to refresh a rental kitchen between tenancies. We can arrange access directly with tenants if needed, and produce the same written guarantee regardless of who owns the property.
Do you also replace handles and hinges? +
Yes. Handle replacement is available as an add-on to any kitchen spraying job. We can source handles to your specification or work with handles you supply. New handles are fitted once spraying is complete. Hinges are adjusted as part of the door re-hanging process at no extra charge.
